The Door CFM - Taylorsville

A CHALLENGE
A Challenge for the Adults of Our Generation
Our heart must beat for God...
We live in a fast-paced world—too busy, it seems, with our own affairs to get involved with others. The Door CFM is made up of a variety of people with different perspectives, jobs, backgrounds, and life circumstances. We know you’re busy with work, children, home life, leisure activities, and more. But our generation is crying out for a cause—something to live for beyond merely existing. We’re tired of the cliché called “life in America,” where the only thing we seem to be involved in is self-indulgence.
The problem with modern Christianity is that we want the benefits and blessings of the Christian life and eternal life, but we don’t want to get involved in the principles and concepts of Jesus Christ. In other words, everyone wants to go to heaven, but no one wants to die. Churches have filled up with tired programs that cater to people’s comfort zones and neglect the necessary work of the heart—the very area where God wants to have full dominion. But we’re afraid of the surgeon’s scalpel, lest we feel the sting of conviction, the pull of responsibility, and the growing call to respond to the cause: involvement.
It’s time for the church of Jesus Christ to rise up and get involved—adults from a generation that traded its moral traditions for the so-called freedoms of reckless abandon, which never truly proved to be freedom at all. Worldly, lifeless religion is the product of “Non-Involvement Christianity,” where no one feels the hot blood of zeal or strives to answer Christ’s call. Sadly, comfort has become more important than serving God.
The Product of “Non-Involvement Christianity”:
-
Lack of effective evangelism.
-
No life or zeal of the Holy Spirit in the church.
-
The “electronic church” becomes a substitute.
TV Christians with their electronic pastors: they just watch from a distance or view on a video screen—live band for worship, but no live preacher to minister the Word of God. What’s the greatest need? Without personal interaction, no one really knows how you live—no commitment, no involvement. Do you think electronic churches are good? Try finding that electronic pastor for some electronic counseling in the middle of your electronic divorce.
Jesus says in John 6:26–27:
“Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled. Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.”
Jesus is rebuking the average adults of His time—those who seemed to follow Him only for what they could get. He continues saying:
“Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.” — John 6:53–56
This is a call to involvement, beyond simply “believing.” I challenge you to a level of involvement in Jesus Christ... beyond believing! I promise that every time you walk through the doors of our sanctuary, you’ll hear the Word of God—challenging, encouraging, and life-giving—without compromise. The whole truth, and nothing but the truth. I promise.
We are a new ministry in this area; however, we are part of a dynamic, long-standing movement with more than 4,000 churches in over 150 nations of the world. We have a challenging ministry for adults; three full dynamic services each week; Home Bible Study Groups; Foundations of Faith courses; and Ministry for the whole family. However, there’s something we’re doing here at Potter’s House Norfolk that is incomplete—and it simply needs you. Your involvement will make it TAKE OFF!
No matter your age or stage in life, the family of The Door CFM Taylorsville wants to be part of it. In every level of involvement—as you rise up and TAKE OFF in your calling as a valuable vessel of Jesus Christ—you will experience a friendly atmosphere and a place you can call home. See you at church!
In His Service,
Pastor Emmanuel Badillo
